Ukrainian fintech meets the AI data economy 🤝

W Group, the ecosystem founded by Volodymyr Nosov, has invested $400 million in US startup SignSplit. After the seed round, the company is valued at $1 billion. W Group was the only investor, and the deal also includes a multi-year strategic partnership to help SignSplit expand internationally.

SignSplit is building infrastructure for what it calls the signed data economy: verifying where data comes from, recording consent for its use and setting access terms. It targets companies in AI, robotics, research and media.

The aim is to make it easier to protect and license user data, creative work and digital likenesses, with transparent terms and compensation for the people who contribute value.

SignSplit was founded in 2024 in Delaware as a Public Benefit Corporation and is led by co-founder and CEO Alessandro Monterosso. W Group, founded in 2018, says it unites 11 companies, 1,500+ employees in 15 offices and 40 million customers in 150 countries, including the WhiteBIT exchange.
