Turbulence is a nightmare to model because the math breaks down at small scales. Most people treat the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem as just a trophy, but it is actually a fundamental gap in our physics. We are basically guessing when it comes to fluid chaos. It is humbling that a million dollar prize still hasn't solved it.
